Vice President, Reverend James Daniels was a member and activist of Local 13-1. He was a member of the laborers union, AFSCME, OCAW, PACE, and USW and a union member for over 50 years. He was raised in Texas during the Jim Crow era. His work on Civil Rights was unprecedented, and his life work was exemplary from his work in the church to the labor movement. He was instrumental in organizing the City of Galveston, City of La Marque, City of Texas City, and City of Galveston join our local in the 90's. Reverend Daniels fought for labor rights, equity, justice, opportunity. Whether it was servicing our members, answering the phones, advocating for strike members in the county, he was always an advocate for the local. He was deeply respected, admired, and loved by his community and union family. He will be forever missed.
