Hi All,
As discussed on a Region E call, the locked out members of USW 235A in Corpus Christi are coming to Houston on Thursday, February 26th to protest at the office of Glencore, the multinational monster that owns Sherwin. The action goes from 12 to 1 pm and all the details are on the attached leaflet. They will be accompanied by a global solidarity delegation of union leaders from Unite in the United Kingdom, South Africa and Australia. The unions in South Africa and Australia have also been in battles with Glencore.
Our locked out members from 235A and the global delegation of union leaders hope that members of USW Locals 13-1 and 227 can join the Glencore action and then they plan on coming by your picket lines to show their support. Unite just provided a big boost to our oil fight with the action they helped organize in London and they’re eager to connect with our members on the front lines.
I understand that Local 13-1 at Deer Park will be doing its Family Day event later that same day. We’ll plan on joining you for part of that, along with stops on the picket lines, before returning to Corpus Christi.
Let’s stay in touch on this and I hope we can bring together members from both these fights, Sherwin and Big Oil, for mutual support and solidarity.
